I grew up in a small town in New England in a family of high achievers and educators. My grandfather was a Colonel in the U.S. Army and instructor for the Tuskegee Airmen and my grandmother was the first black principal on Cape Cod, MA. We were taught early that service to others was both an expectation and a duty that we each have.

One of my fondest, early memories is of a summer visit with a relative who introduced me to traditions of the indigenous communities such as the Cherokee and Lakota Sioux nations. It was during this visit, at the tender age of seven, that I also was introduced to (secular) mindfulness meditation. During a tumultuous childhood, the broader understanding of who we are and how we can cultivate healthy states of mind, body and ways of being left an indelible mark. It was not until much later in life that I appreciated it for helping me maintain my grounding and clarity as I navigated life and relationships, but also for shaping how I do what I do as a business owner, leader, parent, spouse, friend and more.

With this as part of my foundation, I began my career as a corporate attorney with a primary focus on general corporate, hi-tech and starts ups. After moving out of law firm practice, I transitioned to an in-house counsel position with an online media company before moving into full business roles where my curiosity took over - I was thirsty to learn what made organizations tick. As I learned, I became acutely aware of what I call the "quiet suffering" of leaders and teams across industries. I realized that everyone is suffering from something we know nothing about. I also was reminded that everyone is someone's precious child -- even the people we perceive as "difficult." I found myself wanting to help alleviate this suffering so that others could cultivate their capacity to show up as more connected and compassionate human beings as well as high performing leaders.

On this leadership journey, I served in several roles including business development, online marketing, social media, strategy, business operations, data/metrics and reporting, client services, brand management and, finally, online education with a special affinity for personal and professional leadership development. It has been an incredible learning experience; one that created a solid foundation for higher levels of leadership, a unique ability to speak and connect with people across industry sectors, help facilitate healthier ways of being and leading, and enable positive, sustainable leadership and organizational impact.

Today, I bring my legal, business, operational and emotional intelligence skills, supported by a deep secular mindfulness and compassion practice, to help leaders and their teams more skillfully navigate the terrains of work and life.
